Home Sweet Home!!!

Well I finally finished my first year of University which means......... I am a SOPHOMORE:)  This past freshman year has been good.  A lot happened but thankfully I learned a lot from the different challenges and fun times I had.  I am specially thankful for a group of friends that I made.  Our whole group goes on Extension (which is like a ministry outreach) together were we work with blind kids.  But thats not the only time we hang out:)  They all are so sweet and a lot of fun to spend time with.  So saying goodbye at Commencement was really hard.  I flew back home the morning after all the commencement activities were over.  I have been enjoying spending time with my family and friends.  My friend Lisa from BJU is here for a week and a half to visit.  So for this week i have lots of hikes planed, a visit to a castle, trip into the beautiful city of Basel, and of course take Lisa into the Alps to see them.  Furthermore I need to find a job for the summer.  This will be a first for me.  We just found out at christmas time that i could even work here in Switzerland.  So during the semester my mom was collecting advertisements so now i get to start making some calls!  Well that is all for now.

Its SNOWING!!!!!

Ok for all you people from the South you know that it is a big deal if
it snows.....well it is snowing. It is actually snowing a lot, but
the flakes are big flakes and they become slush as soon as they land
on the road. The snow is laying on the grass and roofs of the
buildings. And for all you people who hear that everything shuts down
here in Greenville because of a few flakes...well it does. Most
church services this evening got canceled and rumor has it that
classes tomorrow are going to get cancelled(: I think it is amazing
what a big deal some snow and slush is to people but i guess when you
are not used to it snow would be a big deal, and besides i will not be
complaining if we get a day off tomorrow (especially since i have to
give a speech in speech class tomorrow at nine).

Hi From BJU

I know i have not been very good at keeping my blog updated, but i
will definitely make an effort to do better. Well i have completed one
semester now i only have six and a half to go! I am thinking that it
would be better for me to think in terms of years and not semesters at
this point. This semester is busier than last semester. My classes
are not really harder they just require more homework, especially my
English, Speech, and Accounting classes. Well that is enough about
school. I have some good news and some not so good news. Skype dose
not work on Campus at all not even for international students, now for
the good news i can use MSN, AIM, or Meebo. I have enjoyed being able
to chat with my family already and i can't wait to start chatting with
friends to(: My user name for my MSN account is just my normal e-mail
address (not my University e-mail address) if you use AIM or Meebo
just e-mail me and i can give you my info for those accounts(: I am
coming back this summer(: My dad already purchased my ticket so now
we are just praying for a job to come up. Well i really should get
back to my homework. I hope all of you are having a great weekend!

Back to the Books!

Well I made it back to America after some minor complications like my first flight from Zurich to Frankfurt being cancelled at the last minuet. I just got put on an earlier flight to Munich and then from there a ten hour flight to Charlott, and finally my short flight down to Greenville. My first night in America again I spent at the Popwell's. It was really nice to see them all again. My first morning in America i woke up at five in the morning....thats what comes when your body thinks it is eleven in the morning and is wondering why you are still in bed. Today I have the joy of checking back in on campus and unpacking. I think after having about three and a half weeks of holidays i am ready to get back into a routine again. So now that i said my goodbyes and am in America i am looking forward to starting up my new classes for the semester. I hope you all have a good start up to the new year!

Home for Christmas

Hi everyone,
I am back in Switzerland for Christmas holidays(: It is so good to be home for Christmas. I got to fly for the first time alone......scary....but i made it to the right country. I flew from Greenville spartenburg South Carolina to Charlotte North Carolina. While i was waiting for my plane in SC i got to have a skype video conference with my family(: the joys of modern inventions!!!! when i got to NC i had to wait a bit not very long. Finally i got on to the plane and was headed to Gatwick London. I don't ever mind long flights over the ocean because there are always things to do like watch silent movies, because they are charging $5 for a pair headphones): Well after my movie I slept the rest of the way and the next thing i knew the pilot was announcing landing. In London the real fun began, after being shocked by the English people even the "strickt" security checking peoples habit of calling everyone "love" i had about six hours to spend in the airport. My plane had arrived in London at 8:30 London time my next plane was going to be departing at 15:45. Alls i can say is that after living off of Teddy Grahms and a banana and thouroghly memorizing every shop in the airport i was ready to go home. The first sight i had of my home or at least Zurich was the snow all over.....not something you see very often in SC. And know the big question i made it to my destination, but did my lugage make it.......well yes it did(: after getting my stuff i meat my favorite people who were patiently waiting for me......my family(: of course i was still on american time so even though it was 18:30 my mind thought it was only 12:30 so i was awake and happy to be home. As i talked i looked out my window and started to see familier towns and places until finally mys liebe chlyne Holderbank(: and as if i could be even more happy the next day was sunday and i was going to go to my own church again with all my wonderful friends(: i didn't realize how i missed walking into a small church where i knew everyone and felt at home, a total contrast of a University church with a couple thousand people attending and at least about 30 usheres. Well i hope you all have a wonderful christmas and a happy new year(:

Life at BJU

Hi Everyone,

Sorry that it has been a while since I last added anything to my blog. I guess I kind of left everyone hanging. Well I have been here almost an entire month already, and I am really having a great time. The first week was extremely overwhelming. Once classes started and I got to know my roommates things started to go better. All my classes are going well. I joined a society (the sailors for all of you who are familiar with the BJU societys) and our brother society is the Cavaliers. We are having our first outing next month, and it is going to be a "dating" outing, which basically means all the girls in our society have to ask a guy out. So I am looking forward to that next month....and yes I got myself a date(: It is going to be a formal event with a murder mystery theme. I will try to take pictures to post on my blog.
I am not playing any sports this semester because life has been slightly overwhelming. I am just going to get used to planning my days with my job and my homework and using my time wisely. I might play soccer next semester if I have the time. Our society gets involved with all the sports and they do not have try outs which means if you want to play you can even if you have absolutely no experience in the sport.
My roommates are all really nice. Natalie is a senior, she grew up as a missionary in Brazil. Karis is a sophmore, she is studying women's ministrys; and finally Brittany is studying culinary arts, she brings leftovers from her projects back to our room sometimes(: The four of us get along real well.
Well I need to get back to my homework. I just got back from watching my brother society play in a football (soccer) game, and they won 5-1!

August 27, 2008

Hey Everyone sorry I haven't written for a while.  Last month I had my wisdom teeth removed which went almost perfect.  They were removed on the 18 of Juli I ended up sleeping through most of the weekend, but Monday night I took and extra pain killer and spent the whole tuesday getting sick every ten minuets, so if it was not for that I would not have had any problems.

We spent the first two weeks of August in Missouri, my parents had to take a CEF course.  The three of us just hung out for two weeks swimming in the pool, reading, watching tv.
Presently I just finished packing up all my things. We are leaving for South Carolina tomorrow morning.  It is about a ten hour drive.  Registration is on Friday evening we have some time to check out Greenville and the campus.  My family will leave on Saturday after my work meeting.  So then I will be on my own and my family will spend the weekend at the Jarrett's house. They are looking forward to that.
These are the two dresses that I got for University.  They were a real answer to prayer because dresses like those usually are over $100 dollars, but because mine were last years models they were only $25(:

Kids camp 2008

The week after Teen camp we got to help at a kids camp.  I got to be a counselor for the 5th and 6th grade girls cabin.  We had  a lot of fun. I really enjoyed being a counselor.  There were two other ladies who were counselors of the same cabin.  The three of us got a long well, we had a lot of fun.  My dad was taking pictures throughout the week and made this movie of the different things we did.

Fun at Teen Camp

Me and my sisters had a chance to go to a camp that one of our churches had.  The camp was at Appalachin Bible college in West Virginia, the name of the camp was Alpine Bible camp.  We had a medieval theme focusing on having a lionhearted faith and the courage to share our faith.  We played many games, participated in all kinds of competitions and attempted to complete different challenges all the while learning to work together as a cabin.  I also got a chance to do High ropes, which was really fun as soon as I got used to the idea of being really far off the ground.

I also got to go white water rafting, I loved doing that, although our guide flipped the raft on purpose on the first rapid and i got trapped under the raft and for a moment of panic I thought I would drown.  About half way through the afternoon it started to thunder, lightening, and rain hard right before really big rapid, which added more of a challenge and fun to the whole experience(:
I made many friends there.  All of the counselors were college students from different colleges.  Actually my counselor is a student at Bob Jones and two other counselors were also students at Bob Jones.  I also meet another mk, she was in my cabin.

Skype Me

I just got my own laptop (: I set up Skype with my own user name but I am not going to post it on my blog.  If you would like my Skype name you can send me an e-mail.  My e-mail address has not changed.

Arriving in USA

We finally made it to America.  Our flight from Zurich to Washington-Dulles went well....but I can't say the same for our transfer in Washington.  In Washington we were supposed to board a plane to fly to Harrisburg PA at 16:45, this flight would only take us 55 minuets.  Well the plane boarded 15 minuets late, we sat on the plane for about 30 minuets, and then they told us we needed to get off the plane.  There was a storm coming so the captan informed us takeoff would be delayed.  After waiting for a bit we boarded again drove out to take off got to the take off strip then the captain informed us that we would need to wait 30 minuets so we pulled off and waited.  At the end of the 30 minuets the weather had not improved to the plane went back to the terminal, but lightening had started and because of the danger of being hit by lightening the ground crew did not come out.  By the time we finally got off the plane and down to the baggage claim it was about 22:00. Getting our baggage was the next challenge.  So many flights were being cancelled it was total confusion.  In the end we finally got our baggage and after going 24 hours without sleep (calculating the time difference) we ended up spending the night on some chairs in the baggage claim area and took the first flight out at 8:26 the next morning.
